Cherbourg has a modern cruise terminal located at Quai de France, with a covered pedestrian walkway providing direct access to the Transatlantic Maritime Station / Cruise Terminal, a quay approximately 600 m long and depths of up to 14 m.

The Port of Cherbourg has seen its role in the tourism industry strengthened. In addition to major cruise liners, Cherbourg has become a popular destination for cruise passengers, notably due to its accessibility, its geographical location, and the richness of the Normandy region.
The terminal is relatively close to the city centre and reception services are well organised. On call days, shuttle services are provided for passengers, connecting the terminal to the city centre.

Cruise activity is steadily increasing. The port welcomes nearly 55 cruise ships per year, representing up to 150,000 passengers at maximum vessel capacity.

A project to electrify the quays is currently underway. This project is part of the modernisation of port infrastructure, aiming to provide a more environmentally friendly service offering for cruise companies while anticipating current regulations.
