OverviewWho are we?
Cherbourg Port was established on January 1, 2022, as a Local Public Company within the framework of a new public service delegation between Ports de Normandie and the Communauté d’Agglomération Le Cotentin. It is structured around a Commercial Port DSP contract and a Fishing Port DSP contract.
Cherbourg Port is managed by a Board of Directors responsible for defining the company’s strategic orientations and exercising continuous oversight of its management.
Cherbourg Port’s mission is the operation, upkeep, maintenance, and development of the ports entrusted to it, both fishing and commercial.

A logistics and industrial hub, the Port of Cherbourg specializes in marine renewable energies (MRE) and the handling of hazardous goods.
The rail-road terminal complements the growing activity of the Port of Cherbourg and strengthens its role as a strategic platform for trade with Ireland, the United Kingdom, and more broadly for cross-Channel traffic.
Port facilities directly connected to motorway and rail networks make Cherbourg a multimodal port.
The Port of Cherbourg is also a stopover port for cruise liners.
It is also a fishing port with its tidal basin, quays, pontoons, outfitting stores, and fish trading facilities—an essential and key player in the fishing sector in the Cotentin area.
The administrative team ensures the organization of port calls and their smooth operation. The availability of administrative staff facilitates relations with clients and the entire port community.
The maintenance and upkeep of equipment and tools are handled by the maintenance department of SPL Cherbourg Port, ensuring greater responsiveness.
