Cross-Channel

The leading French port for Ireland, the Port of Cherbourg is a major economic and strategic player in the English Channel region. Thanks to its location and exceptional nautical characteristics, the port is accessible 24/7 and can accommodate vessels with a draft of up to 14 meters.

With its range of services to England and Ireland, and regular crossings to Poole and Portsmouth as well as Dublin and Rosslare, it plays an essential role in cross-Channel connections.

The Port of Cherbourg is also a major freight port, a key factor in its economic activity. It serves as a transit point for goods transported between France and England, as well as other European countries.

The 550,000 passengers and 90,000 trailers handled annually (including 50% unaccompanied trailers) benefit from a user-friendly and secure 15-hectare ferry terminal, three high-capacity RORO ramps, a SIVEP, and a passenger terminal offering numerous services (restrooms, catering, Wi-Fi, ATMs, etc.).

A project to electrify the quays is currently underway. This project is part of the modernization of port infrastructure, aiming to provide a more environmentally friendly service offering for ferry companies while anticipating current regulations.
